"undocumented functionality"?

No the app only uses standard, documented parts of the Android SDK.
It's difficult to pinpoint the exact cause as the Android Market
doesn't allow you to contact the users which experience these
problems.
However, I believe the activity which causes the force close issues
only uses a TabHost and MapActivity and is not very complicated.

Short of buying every Android phone on the market, debugging an issue
which doesn't present itself on the emulator or my physical device is
a near impossibility.
