I'm wondering if anyone has a DB somewhere that tracks devices,

I'd be shocked if something like that existed. The amount of work that would be required to keep that up-to-date would be enormous.

What is prompting this is the addition of the Calendar API in Ice

the application backwardly compatible, and if so, how far back
    should I go.

Thanks for the link! That is useful at least in understanding what's out there at the moment. IT looks like developing for anything past 2.2 will leave a lot of devices out of the picture. Do you happen to know if there are historical graphs available?

I was hoping one of the fan sites had the device/carrier data.
