Let me try to summarize the many questions that I so far received in this context: OpenCORE 1.0 on master had the author engine working with the non-OMX codecs as well. On Cupcake, this is not the case. Cupcake has an OMX node that supports mpeg-4 OMX video component (in this case, the HW OMX component). But, if the HW component is not present, it is expected to pick the non-OMX SW codec. This functionality is missing.
