Hello, I'm working to set up a manet with some g1 phones. I received from the University a g1 with cupcake already installed on it. I've noticed that cupcake (unfortunately) has wifi ad hoc mode disabled by default. I found this patch: https://review.source.android.com/Gerrit#change,9714. I've compiled Android following specific instructions for the g1 and applying the patch. I would like to know if fastboot is a safe mode to install the images (the device is not mine and I'm paying attention to avoid dangerous situations) and if I have to flash all the images or I can only install system.img to apply the patch.
