Don't know how well that would fly with google, but I suppose as long
as you marked it functionality and purpose clearly it would be
alright. It wouldn't be too hard to write...see the sms interceptor
pseudo-malware app (long since pulled from the market). If you examine
its source it looks pretty basic. Of course, that is an extreme
example of a program running a hidden background process.

I don't know of anything already made that's quite what you're looking
for ... though I would be interested to hear if you do find something.
