So, I see two options to expose my HW crypto accelerators to apps. One is thr' openSSL engine interface and other is Android crypto service provider. I am trying to understand which option is better or is openSSL engine sufficient?
specifically talking about crypto: how often AES or SHA is used for example by Marketplace apps? Since these don't go thr' openSSL (bouncy castle has java based native implementation), have you heard about performance complaints here? What is the most common usage of crypto in Android? That is my point. The most common usages within the Android Open Source Project have all already been backed by OpenSSL. There is a fair amount of usage diversity in the open sources apps. If there are particular needs of particular apps, we have heard about it on the issuer tracker. and we do hear about performance issues there with other core libraries and try to address them. -bri -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Android Security Discussions" group.
