I have an older Galaxy Note (AT&T version), running Android 4.0.4. I am trying
to use the Bring Your Own Device functions from my employer, and am running
into an issue.

The apps involved are:
AirWatch Agent v5.0.5.2795
Cisco Jabber v105.2.197866
Touchdown for SmartPhones v8.4.00086

Device details:
Model Number: SAMSUNG-SGH-I717
Android version: 4.0.4
Baseband version: I717UCMB4
Kernel version: 3.0.8
Build number: IMM76D.UCMB4

AirWatch agent is the initial install. AirWatch agent sets up as a device
administrator, and adds the AirWatch Samsung Admin Service, also as a device
administrator. It also requires encryption of the device. During the app
configuration process after install, AirWatch will also trigger the downloading
and configuration of Touchdown, which is the email/calendar/contacts app. This
all appears to work ok, however part of the AirWatch configuration also
downloads and installs several certificates to the User certificate store.
This does not appear to work properly. It appears to install the certificates,
but they do not show up in the User store. The option to Clear credentials is
no longer greyed out, and when you select that option, it behaves as if it is
removing certs, but again, none show under the User store.

When I attempt to use Jabber, it validates the login using Chrome to hit the
login site. It will pop a message asking which certificate to use, and you can
select the correct cert listed, but when it tries to connect to the login site,
the site does not recognize that a cert is being passed. This is almost
behaving like a permissions problem.

The install procoess, etc., all work fine and install the certs on my Samsung
Galaxy SIII, which is running 4.4.2.
Rooting the phone violates the security policies in AirWatch, so I can't update
Android.
Suggestions? (Other than just use the SIII).
