Hi, Sorry in advance if this is misplaced, or previously covered (didnt find anything in a search). Please point me in the right direction if so.
I went through an app setup process beyond the usual app store download, and am now worried that it might have compromised my device security or done something malicious, and am hoping to find out how to proceed. I wanted to record my screen on android for a demo that I am making. My device, a Sony Xperia Z3, is not rooted, so I could not use any of the available recording apps requiring rooting. The one app that I found that claimed to be able to record without root is "Recordable", found here: App store- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=uk.org.invisibility.recordablefree&hl=en Website- http://recordable.mobi/ The process had me download the android app to your device. It then had me download software via their website for mac- a .dmg, which then installed an OS X app called "Recordable Activator". The Android app then guided me through putting my device in developer mode, and enabling USB debugging. I then connected my device to the mac via USB, and launched the mac "Activator" app. A progress bar filled, and my android device screen flashed and rapidly changed (the android app, which was open, noted that it was being activated). Unfortunately, the app doesn't seem to be working properly (it keeps looping to the activation step), so I have given up on it, and uninstalled it via the app store for the android device, and via "App cleaner" app on the mac. I am now worried that, given the access I gave it, and unusual installation process, my actions may have compromised the security of my device, or otherwise done something malicious. How can I find out? What steps should I take to return to normal functioning and permissions (such as turning off developer mode)?
