yes, it were those grains of salt I'm afraid ... in fact, Chad and I were just discussing them and all of a sudden we saw your cvs commit message in our mailbox,... quite funny !

just a combination of bad timing and silly coincidence I guess

now it works nicely I have to say ... finally putting those newbpm4struts MMDs to work today ! great :-)

ps: branching the branch is of course out of the question :-) don't worry

Hey friends,

don't panic - the build always ran fine on my machine (at least until
Jrgen brought in a few grains of salt that I wiped away on the same
day!). I hope, everything is running again! I gave Jrgen the necessary
information to understand the magic behind it.

But I agree with you: the complexity of the build is beyond my usual
style! Poor chaps! :-)

Cheers...
Matthias

P.S.: We should not branch the branch... Let's close V3x_MMD as soon as
possible and continue in HEAD.

Subject: [Andromda-devel] lord of the builds: why did it come to me, why did it choose me..it's such a burden to bear

anybody tried to build the V3x_MMD yet ?

you're in for a challenge, I kid you not. Chad and I just spent an American day and a European evening respectively to get it to work ... after jumping through the hoops, we got there, but boy ...what a ride
if it wasn't for Chad I would not have done it, thanks man

morale of the story: we got to get this build system clean, because the next guy will stumble in the same pitfalls as we just did

did somebody just say Maven ?

I have no time to do it though ... anybody up for a challenge ? maybe we should branch the branch again :-) just to make sure we can work

cheers
Wouter.

ps: the main problem was we needed to do a build in the root 'andromda-all' once to get started, then each time after we rebuild the metadecorators ... ah yes, if you check out the sources, be aware the checking out anonymously has some lag on the version of those sources, you may not pull the most recent ones from the server

for the rest, the build.xml files are too cryptic, honestly, the combination of classpaths, cross-references, build.properties files etc... is too confusing at the beginning, once you know you're way around it's doable..but still

sorry for the sarcastic tone of this email, but I tend to get this way once I reach the sweet-sweet land of euphoria after hours of torment...
