Wouter Zoons commented on SITE-45:
----------------------------------

apparently there already was a printer CSS in the site generation plugin but it
wasn't being picked up for some reason .. it basically did pretty much what you
suggested, this is how it looked:

#banner, #leftColumn, #breadcrumbs, #pdf, #serverLink { display: none; }

#bodyColumn
{
    position: absolute;
    top: 0px;
    left: 0 px;
    right: 0;
    background-color: #fff;
    padding: 50px;
    margin: 0;
}

I'll integrate it with your feedback

> On the page
> http://galaxy.andromda.org/docs-3.1/andromda-cartridges/index.html
> there are some xml fragments. When I print the page the result is unreadable.
> This happens with firefox and IE as well.
> 1) The fundamental problem is the lack of a .css for media print.
> Make sure that there is an own .css for print
> <link rel="stylesheet" href="./style/maven-andromda.css" type="text/css"
> media="screen" title="default"></link>
> <link rel="stylesheet" href="./style/maven-andromda-pr.css" type="text/css"
> media="print"></link>
> 2) make a copy of maven-andromda.css and call it maven-andromda-pr.css
> You have to modify some of the entries. Get rid of all information not
> interesting when printing. Change (not add) the above items
> #banner
> {
> display : none;
> }
> ...
> #leftColumn
> {
> display : none;
> }
> ...
> #bodyColumn
> {
> background-color: #fff;
> padding: 20px 25px 25px 10px;
> margin: 0;
> }
> ...
> #breadcrumbs
> {
> display : none;
> }
