You're totally right, kdepimpi port is a temporary solution, I didn't even expect anyone else to get so excited about it and therefore didn't even finish the port. But in general, having the ability to run qt4 stuff on X is a good thing, because having lightweight alternatives for the daily tasks still leaves the room for some heavy-weight applications running on special occasions.
