I had a look back over your messages to this list and it seemed that your
original WPA issue got solved in the end. Perhaps we need more work done to
make things work out of the box with some cards. FWIW with development builds
of Angstrom I can plug in my MA701, edit /etc/network/interfaces (only) and
then restart wlan0 and it happily connects to a WPA encrypted AP. It's
possible this works with stable builds, I haven't tested yet.

FYI as it happens I am working on making the network settings application in
Opie handle WPA settings in /etc/network/interfaces so you don't have to mess
around editing it by hand.

The guy who wrote Wellenreiter has moved on, but if there are bugs then please
report them (an email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] or to me directly is fine). I
can't promise that they will be fixed but I will at least take a look.
Actually I just noticed the original Wellenreiter site has gone, I'll contact
the original author and see if I can get it resurrected elsewhere.

Driver ability and availability often improves independent of Angstrom, since
the kernel is upgraded from time to time. With the recent major wireless work
in the kernel I would hope that wireless support is improving for devices
that didn't already work out of the box previously.

As far as actual driver development is concerned I am in the same boat as
you - I'm not a kernel hacker. However I am willing to review (and hardware
allowing, test) patches to improve all of this, and happy to help develop
modifications to any system scripts or default config files if necessary, and
in the case of Opie I'm definitely in a position to improve functionality of
the UI.

Cheers,
Paul
