What are the core applications/utilities of a PDA?

This is my experience of Angstrom so far from a strictly user point of
view, with ratings out of 5:

Core PDA Apps:

 - integrated PIM:
    - calendar 4/5
    - contacts 4/5
    - todo 4/5
    - notes 0/5 not provided
    - reminders (device turns on and sounds alarm) ? haven't tried
    - calculator 0/5 none evident

 - document viewer:
    - pdf 0.5/5 - evince is totally small-screen insensitive, and
      often segfaults

 - email ? haven't tried yet

 - web browser 3/5 on the merits of links-x11 - other browsers are hell;
links-x11 renders better overall than pocket IE on PPC

 - media player
    - still graphics 3.5/5 gpe-image-gallery is quite good
    - audio 4/5 mplayer is great
    - video ditto

 - utilities
    - battery/power 4/5
    - device settings 3/5 many settings awkward or don't work
    - connectivity - bluetooth/wlan 2/5 many simple tasks need scripting

Ancillary apps:
 - spreadsheet 2.5/5 gnumeric difficult on small screen
 - word processor 1/5 abiword is excruciating
 - database framework ? haven't tried yet

But now, from a developer point of view:
 - programming environment 4.7/5 - brilliant once one learns the OE way
and sets up one's environment; one gets spoiled for choices

Cheers
Dave
