With loopback image no, but you can use SD or CF card as rootfs directly. You'll need to repartition card with fdisk (parted/gparted/etc.) - either resize existing FAT partition and make another for linux, either make one big partition using all space. Then format this partition to ext2, mount it and extract Angstrom rootfs there. Extraction goes like this: cd /media/your_just_formatted_partition_mounted tar xvzf /path/to/Angstrom-some-image-2007.12-h2200.rootfs.tar.gz When your card is ready you'll need two things: HaRET (it's a linux bootlader), correct startup.txt and kernel. Well, three things. Haret can be found here, version 0.5.2 is ok: http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/HaRET Sample startup.txt and kernel you should find at the same place you downloaded angstrom rootfs from. For example if you downloaded rootfs from here: http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/autobuild/h2200/Angstrom-x11-image-glibc-ipk-2007.12-r18-h2200.rootfs.tar.gz you'll need these files: http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/autobuild/h2200/startup.txt http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/autobuild/h2200/zImage-2.6.21-hh20-r16-h2200.bin Place haret.exe, startup.txt and zImage in one folder (it can be folder on another card, in iPAQ File Store, My Documents, etc.), edit "root" parameter in startup.txt (if your rootfs on 1st partition on SD you need "root=/dev/mmcblk0p1",if on CF - "root=/dev/hda1", etc.), and then run haret. Hope this helps. Also you can see this howto for reference: http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/CardBoot It's slightly outdated and in fact it's even from another distro, but main principles are still the same. -- Best regards, Dmitry "MAD" Artamonow _______________________________________________ Angstrom-distro-users mailing list [email protected] http://lists.linuxtogo.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/angstrom-distro-users
