imho I use the link function for all changes made once and the
controller for all logic which can be triggered somehow.
e.g.:
* use link to set a class (via $animate) or do stuff based on parameters
passed to the directive
* use the controller to handle clicks or data coming from services.

In Creating Custom Directives
<https://code.angularjs.org/1.4.1/docs/guide/directive> (part of the
official docs) it says in the green box at the very bottom of the page:
Best Practice: use controller when you want to expose an API to
other directives. Otherwise use link .
Huh?
Up to now I considered this "best practice":
Use the "link" function for DOM manipulation.
Use "controller" for all logic.
What am I missing?
