Dear Fellow Libertarian, As I am sure you know, William Redpath, the current
LNC Chair is running for US Senate in VA. As Virginians, we are very lucky this
election year to have such a great US Senate candidate to put our vote behind
in November. Bill and many other volunteers across the state have put a lot of
effort into this campaign so far and were able to obtain enough signatures to
ensure that Bill's name will appear on the ballot on election day. However, the
work has only just begun. The campaign will be working hard to ramp up our
efforts so that when the real action starts after Labor Day we will be in the
thick of things. Currently, we are sending out as many press releases and
query letters as possible to various local media outlets. We are highlighting
Bill's expertise in ballot access issues and reinforcing the fact that with
Congressional approval ratings at an all-time low, voters need to be made aware
of all of their choices this fall. We hope to obtain some interviews and local
media coverage as a result of this effort. We have prepared and will be
getting out fundraising letters to LPVA members and other interested parties in
the coming weeks through both email and snail mail. We are also working with a
few sources throughout the Commonwealth to plan fundraising and/or
"townhall"-type events for Bill. Additionally, we are planning to run radio
ads closer to election day and are in the process of determining placement. If
our budget allows, we will look into cable TV advertising. While all of these
efforts are worthy endeavors, what we need most right now is the help and
enthusiasm of LPVA members. Yes, we need donations. But we also need your time.
We need volunteers to help spread the word of our campaign by distributing
flyers, displaying and/or placing yard signs and attending local events.
Anything you can do will help. Do you know of any festivals, parades or other
activities going on in your area between now and Election Day? If so, let us
know about it! We'd love to attend or ship campaign supplies to you so that you
can attend in our absence. Are you part of a local LP group, such as a meetup
or a university club? Would you like flyers and yard signs for your group
members or to pass out on campus? Just contact us! Lastly, we need to ensure
that each and every one of you will be at the polls on Election Day. This is a
very important election year-- not one to sit out. So please, get out and vote.
And don't forget to spread the message of Liberty to friends, family and
colleagues. Many partisan voters are feeling disillusioned with their parties
this year and are more open to hearing about other choices. So, make sure you
are doing your part to spread the word of the Libertarian Party and our
