Good Evening Libertarians: I hope you all had a wonderful Tuesday. As Marc Montoni wrote earlier, the Virginia GOP's baseless attacks on our petition drive turned out to be a colossal waste of time, and proved what lengths they are willing to go to try to keep our candidates off the ballot.
*Just how desperate are they?* * * Below is the latest press release on where things stand. As Marc mentioned earlier, there are action items that *YOU* can take: *ACTION ITEM # 1*: Don't forget -- there will be some expenses to deal with in order to fight this challenge (travel costs, legal fees, possibly FOIA fees, etc) so if you can help out with a donation, it would be greatly appreciated. Please visit http://Contribute.LPVA.com<http://contribute.lpva.com/> and throw a few dollars into the account. There is an option for "notes" on one of the payment pages, just paste in the phrase "Petition Challenge" in that box and we will direct your contribution to these expenses. **THANK YOU** for any help you can provide. *ACTION ITEM # 2*: Publicize what's going on to your friends and family who believe in fairness and defending the rights of political minorities. After the Libertarian Party of Virginia legitimately qualified for the Virginia ballot by gathering at least 10,000 valid signatures (including at least 400 from each of the 11 congressional districts), the Republican Party of Virginia sent a letter charging that the petition forms submitted by the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party were invalid. “If political parties are allowed to second guess the review of the board and their staff it turns the certification process into a game of political football," Alicia Dearn, lawyer for the Gary Johnson for President campaign said. "I think the decision today was a prudent decision and also the one that was mandated by the law the way that it stands.” As of Tuesday afternoon, the State Board of Elections has confirmed that the Libertarian Party of Virginia has properly submitted all required documentation to put Gary Johnson on the ballot in Virginia.
