Dear Colleagues,

A few days ago, Wayne Allyn Root resigned from his At-Large Representative
position the Libertarian National Committee ("LNC"). The LNC will be choosing
a volunteer to fill the remaining term through the 2014 national convention.

The next LNC meeting will take place on November 17-18, in Arlington VA.

Anyone who meets the Bylaws requirements for membership (see the Bylaws, at
https://www.lp.org/files/2012%20LP%20Bylaws%20and%20Convention%20Rules%20w%202010%20JC%20Rules.pdf
 ) is eligible to place their name in nomination.

National chair Geoff Neale asks that anyone interested submit a one to two page
nomination to both [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> and [email protected]
<mailto:[email protected]> . Neale requests you only nominate yourself -- since
nominations of someone else means that staff will have to investigate whether
the candidate is willing to serve.

While there are no rules requiring any kind of format or content in this
nomination, it would be advisable for any candidate to provide:

1) a statement that they are seeking the open position and will commit to
attending the meetings;

2) a summary of their libertarian credentials;

3) a summary of their non-libertarian qualifications to sit on a board; and,

4) a short statement of what they feel they bring to the LNC.

Every nominee must recognize that being a member of the LNC represents a
significant investment in both time and money. Each LNC member pays his own
travel and lodging to attend LNC meetings.

Neale asks that all nominations be submitted by Friday November 2nd, so that
the LNC can review the nominations before the opening of the meeting on the
17th.

This replacement election will -- hopefully -- be one of the earliest items on
the agenda. Once nominations are opened, all previously submitted nominations
will be considered. At that time, other nominations may be made by any LNC
member, but cannot be made by anyone outside the LNC. Once nominations are
closed, the chair intends to allow any candidates present to speak on their own
behalf for one or two minutes. After the voting, the winner, if present, will
be welcomed onto the LNC, and will immediately be able to participate in the
meeting.

If you are interested in becoming part of the leadership of the national
Libertarian Party, consider seeking this position as an At-Large Representative.

Thank you!

-- Marc Montoni, Secretary
   Libertarian Party of Virginia
