A public broadband workshop is scheduled in Eureka, Missouri for February 2,
2010. The workshops are free and open to the general public. For
information regarding dates and times of all the workshops please go to:

with details on the Eureka workshop.

The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009 appropriated $7.2
billion and directed the Department of <http://www.usda.gov/rus/>
Agriculture's Rural Utilities Service (RUS) and the Department
<http://www.ntia.doc.gov/broadbandgrants/> of Commerce's National
Telecommunications Information Administration (NTIA) to expand broadband
access to unserved and underserved communities across the U.S., increase
jobs, spur investments in technology and infrastructure, and provide
long-term economic benefits.

The result is the RUS Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP) and the NTIA
Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP).

BIP will make loans and grants for broadband infrastructure projects in
rural areas. BTOP will provide grants to fund broadband infrastructure,
public computer centers and sustainable broadband adoption projects.

The NTIA and RUS have released separate Notices of Funding Availability
(NOFA) for the second and final round of the Broadband Technology
Opportunities Program (BTOP) and the Broadband Initiatives Program (BIP).
These Notices are being provided for informational purposes only. If there
is any difference between these documents and the Notices officially
published in the Federal Register, the Federal Register Notices are
controlling. RUS
