Palestinians continue to die despite the Israeli army's
withdrawal from the cities and refugee camps in the
West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Zeina Suliman Awwadi, 43 years old and three of

her children, Tahani, 18, Ammani, 12, Salim, 9
and her 10 year old nephew, Tariq, were killed
yesterday near their home in Breij refugee camp
in the Gaza Strip. As they were driving a donkey
cart along a path in the area a land mine left by the
Israeli army exploded killing them and injuring two
others.
Witnesses said their bodies were thrown in the air.
The body of Salim was not recovered for some hours
as Israeli soldiers in the area prevented ambulances
from reaching him - their excuse being he was in a
restricted area, thrown there by the force of the
explosion.
This is not the first time this has happened - five
children were killed in the same circumstances in
Khan Younis in Gaza in November 2001.

latest fatality of the Israeli policy of preventing
access to medical care. Riad Abu Zayed was
born in Deir-al-Balah hospital; a day later his
condition required that he be transported to a
specialized pediatric hospital in Gaza City.
Upon reaching the Israeli military checkpoint
the ambulance he was traveling in was stopped
for two hours during which time Riad died. There
were two other babies in the same condition in
the ambulance. Therefore the ambulance staff
decided to return to the hospital they had come
