Ananova : US citizens warned of Easter threats in Italy ============================== The US government has issued an alert to its citizens that they could be targeted by extremist groups in four Italian cities over Easter. The State Department says a "possible threat exists to US citizens in the cities of Venice, Florence, Milan and Verona on Easter Sunday from extremist groups". The announcement does not identify the groups or elaborate on the nature of the threats but it warns "these groups do not distinguish between official and civilian targets". It said Americans should "increase their security awareness and avoid large crowds". A US official said the warning was based on "very specific information" that was "developed in very close cooperation with Italian authorities." Italian anti-terrorism officials have refused to comment. The announcement came just 10 days after a worldwide caution warning that "extremist individuals" were planning terrorist actions against US interests." The worldwide caution was issued the day of an attack on worshippers at a Christian church near the US Embassy in Islamabad.
