Associated Press January 25, 2010 Norwegian soldier killed in Afghanistan blast Norway's military says a Norwegian soldier has been killed by a roadside bomb in northern Afghanistan. The Norwegian Armed Forces says the soldier was the driver of an armored vehicle that hit an explosive device in Faryab province's Ghormach district. Two other soldiers in the vehicle received light injuries. A military statement Monday says they were part of a Norwegian infantry unit that was to join soldiers from the Afghan army to conduct common patrols in the area. More Norwegian troops were sent to the site of the blast to secure the area.
