What do you mean with "group"? There are no "groups" within APE, so
you might be thinking about something you want to implement?

Whenever a user joins a channel that is public, he will receive the
updates - for this channel only.
ANd a user can join as much channels as is needed.

Don't think of channels like "chat rooms", it's rather a selection of
users that receive messages on different topics

So, in real life, you might have two channels, like one for public
chat messages that everyone should see and a private channel for
status updates coming from the server, like "system going down for
reboot now" or anything like that ;-)
