This is on an eMac running Mac OS X!
Just replying to my own message here :) On closer inspection, Taipan is running after all. What happens is the disk image boots, the hi-res title screen appears with the prompt to press escape to continue, but pressing that appears to do nothing. What really happens is that the program continues to run, you just can't see it. Taipan was one of those programs which patched the monitor character out routine to redirect text output to the hi-res screen. Pressing reset briefly flashes up the text screen showing the familiar "Taipan, what will you name your firm:". Taipan also trapped the reset so that it would just rerun the program. Typing a name, then 1 or 2 to select your starting option gets you to the main game screen, which you still can't see until you press reset, which then resets the game of course :( It's a pity this emulator wasn't updated further, I'm guessing it's the later system software which breaks it rather than the newer hardware. -- Roger Johnstone, Invercargill, New Zealand _____________________________________________ Apple II - Future Cop:LAPD - iMac Game Wizard http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~rojaws -- Apple2list is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... / Buy books, CDs, videos, and more from Amazon.com \ / <http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/redirect-home/lowendmac> \ Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Apple2list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/apple2.html> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/apple2list%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
