Hi all,

I had a lot of trouble with my first IIgs (a ROM 03). Someone gave me
another IIgs (ROM 01) and I tranferred all of the cards from the 03 to the
01 and the 01 does not suffer from the same problems the 03 did. It
appears as if the ROM 03 model of the IIgs that I had (among other
problems) a faulty drive controller. With that IIgs I could not use a
5.25" floppy drive and it would "lock up" when I would try to use more
than one drive at once.

The ROM 01 version runs really well except that it crashes sometimes in
GS/OS. This never happened with the ROM 03 model and I was wondering if
perhaps ROM 01 models have trouble with certain versions of GS/OS. I
currently have 1.128 MB of RAM (128 K standard plus a fully populated 1 MB
Apple Memory Expansion Board). When it crashes, it will go to the "*"
prompt and display the contents of the registers.

Thanks a lot,

Matt
