The machine that I am using now (and have trouble with) is the ROM 01
version. I had drive troubles with my ROM 03 model (which ended up being
a bad drive controller). The problem I seem to be having with the ROM 01
is the crashing (although I do miss having 2 MB of RAM). The 1 MB
Expansion card in the ROM 01 model I have now is the same one that was in
my ROM 03 and I didn't experience any of these crashes when it was in the
ROM 03 model. The first time it crashed was a few seconds after loading
ProDOS to use the "Your Tour of The Apple IIgs disk" so I am guessing that
if a RAM chip is bad that it might actually be on the logic board, not the
expansion board because it happened so quickly that I don't see how it
could have loaded data to the expansion card yet. Also, if it does crash
then I can't soft reset it because it will crash again at the "Apple IIgs
Intro screen." I do have a copy of the diagnostic program and I will see
if a RAM chip (either on the logic board or the expansion board) is to
blame.

And then it is possible that I just got two bad IIgs's. *shrugs* :(

Thanks a lot,

Matt
