I just got stuck in the same Telnet loop.
I was unable to get out of loop except with alt-E to
DOS. Then I uninstalled epppd with TERMIN 0x60. Then
the screen went black with blinking cursor in bottom
right corner. The keyboard was "dead" so I had to use
RESET.
