This is a meme.
The idea that communication of any form on the internet requires Win$!$%^
is self replicating, and just like a virus.
There are some who are naturally resistant to this virus, but the majority
are weak.
Javascript is like HIV for the internet. It isn't necessary but still it
spreads through indiscriminant use.
As with most virii, the cure requires some modification of the virus's
ability to replicate successfully. Without a silver bullet, the best we
can hope for is to increasingly isolate more of the uninfected world from
the source of the infection.
Sometimes an increased awareness of the potential problem helps make the
general population more careful and thus resistant.
Sometimes, scare tactics are employed to get the idea across to those less
concerned with the future.
Sometimes, a competing virus is required to do the job in the end.
To create awareness of the problem we must complain.
It's work, and it's boring, but form letters will do because nobody really
reads the complaints. They do get noticed tho if there are a lot.
I have a new sig. It's not much, but every little bit helps. <G>
The competing meme isn't Linux. :(
