Thank you for all the replies,
I am a little bit confused.

I just created a new installation on a Laptop (not arch linux though, was just for testing), and it said, that I need a efi00 parition, and but the labels boot and esp on it and also a Bios Protective Area of type BIOS BOOT ith bios_grub flag.

I thought I just needed EFI Parition to boot, no?

Good afternoon,

It seems you have completely messed up the partitioning and bootloader
steps.

Firstly, if the server supports UEFI booting, which the majority of
servers made in the last 2 decades would, messing around with BIOS boot
is often not worth it.

GPT + UEFI + systemd-boot is by far the easiest way (IMO) to have a
rock solid boot chain. Especially when it comes to servers you want to
be able to boot a main and fallback kernel/initramfs in case of
regressions and systemd-boot makes this easy.

The GPT example layout [1] is a good place to start, then proceed with
the rest of the installation steps until you get to bootloader, then
follow the installation [2] of systemd-boot, then follow the
configuration [3] mainly the loader config and the individual loader
entries.

This should be a lot more stable, grub can be fiddly, and also because
grub supports both bios and uefi booting, you have to be careful which
you install it for, and ensure you have the right partition layout as
others on the list have mentioned.

This should at least get you started, good luck!

Take care,
