As far as I can tell, this script is meant to start a PPP connection
during the boot process.

She wants to start her connection manually (hence I recommended her
KPPP). I'm not sure whether or not it is necessary to adapt some files
in /etc/ppp/ since KPPP seems to offer everything necessary to setup a
dialup connection within a nice GUI.

I suppose using /etc/rc.d/ppp involves having proper parameters in
/etc/ppp/* before being able to connect to the ISP.

Gilles.
