pardon me for asking here too but posting this on the forum noone actually
replied
and its driving me crazy..
has anyone actually got to install arch from ftp using a static ip adress since
don't panic was released?
i have tried several times but 99% of the times the connection times out and i
get an error trying to get package list. sometimes it gets package list with an
awfully slow speed. i have not yet managed to download pacman...
whats even weirder is the fact that i cant install even with an ftp Duke cd
as i did in the past.
packages download normally but you cant see the output in tty5. then locale are
not generated (get using the default C instead) even though that was only an
issue on the Linuxtrag iso afaik.
i have no idea why this would happen. i mean it might be logical if the dont
panic iso failed for some reason. but getting a different than before behaviour
with the duke iso as well is really weird.
the settings i used for my nic are the ones i use in my working installation
also so i dont see what might be wrong with that
any thoughts/solutions?
thanks
