hm i was so like hoping this would solve this annoying issue that the 
"open with" option NEVER has a default application!
Installed the thing and even rebooted the system ...
still when i go to a link eg for .mpg file i only get the browse button 
to select the executable for the wished application capable of playing 
those files ....
And no i don't want to do some download action options...
all i want is that firefox knows a default application for a certain 
file type (if such app exists on the system naturally).

Hopefully someone knows a solution for this cos it's driving me crazy lately
