For a few weeks we had the problem (Ariel 3.4) that Ariel would shut down the 
first time we forwarded an article to a patron's email. We would have to reboot 
the terminal to reconnect the scanner. An IT person said it sounded like 
something had gotten corrupted and he suggested a reinstall, so we reinstalled 
3.4 and the problem seems to have gone away. We reinstalled the 3.4 updgrade 
from the infotrieve website directly, without removing anything, and it worked 
fine.
