I don't like the word empowerment much, because I don't like the word "power" as too vague and too loaded.
"Money" acts as a sybil certificate in a massive anonymous support economy, a transfer-able proof-of-work. I don't believe the opposite capitalism and communism take opposite extremes, I believe communism and proprietary-ism do. The idea about a community, means everyone could learn how to complete any task without difficulty. That's the ideal.
