Maybe I'm wrong, but according to my individuell experience the u-boot
is currently unable to boot OpenBSD from nvme or ssd. U-boot only boots
from sd-card.

Therefore you MUST install the / - partiotion onto the sd-card and all
other partitions onto nvme. That will work (have it running on 4
Raspberry 5 meanwhile). A small sd-card with 8, better 16 GB will do
the job perfectly.
