You r right.....both the songs have slight similarity, and ARR himself like " Dama dum mast kalander". In his interview with Simi(Star World), he was asked what song would he like to compose which has been created earlier composed by some other MD.....and ARR told "Dama dum mast kalander"

I was listening to Varaga Nadhikara (Snagamam) and the
shahbaazQalandar( Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan- original). in these two songs

the way NFK ends dama dam mast Qalandar. Did some body thought about

NFK did it in Sufi style and ARR did it in Carnatic style. Please dont
say that ARR was inspired. bcos its not...technically.
The style rendered here is more same and they both are gems to me So
do ARR & NFK.
I believe there are few Pak ARR fans could somebody throw more light
to this ShabaazQalandar song, meanwhile down south discuss the Varaga
Nadhikara song.
Please take this as a positive one and I would request everybody
refrain using any terms such as inspired or copied. JUST DONT DO THAT.
