Judging by what Rano and I could make of the audience reaction moving around different parts of the venue, no one was groaning about songs in a particular language. Sure, the Tamil crowd went berserk when Sivaji came on, but I don't think the so-called Hindi audience minded it or vice versa when many original Tamil numbers were performed in Hindi. It's unlikely Hari was surprised at performing in Telugu since the same song had already been performed at two or three earlier concerts on this tour.

Niceee, but I have learnt that it is often better to take anything from Rediff with a pinch of salt. As usual Rediff manages to screw things due to the seemingly rampant incompetence of its staff and the way they let parochialism seep in, not just into the comments section (about which they don't really have any control), but the actual articles itself. First, they manage to get one of the names wrong in this slide (http://specials.rediff.com/movies/2007/jun/18sld4.htm), where they mis-label Vijay Yesudas as Naresh Iyer. The second grouse that I have, I don't really know who it is that deserves the blame. A number of people that Rediff asked for sound-bites apparently complained about the number of Tamil numbers. Now, normally if one third of a set was in a language apart from Hindi, I'd agree with that grouse. But it's not like we have 100 different languages to choose soundtracks from. Another reason I might have had a chance to agree with that grouse would be if I did not know about this group at all. From the comments I see here about the tour in general, no one seemed to complain along those lines. So having seeing most of the fan quotes on that article go along that path put me off. In fact, I'd have wanted to see more Telugu numbers (disclosure: my knowledge of Telugu is minimal) in there. The inclusion of the one number seemed to be an after-thought. It did NOT look stage managed, but I thought Hariharan was slightly surprised when ARR told him that the next song was in Telugu. anantha. --- In arrahmanfans@yahoogroups.com, $*$ PaVaN $*$ <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Here is a Rediff article on Rahman's newyork show... > > http://specials.rediff.com/movies/2007/jun/18sld1.htm > > > There is a sentance in one of the slides in which the organiser says : > > > "I have seldom seen such an outburst of spontaneous response," said the New York organiser of the event, Bharat Jotwani, a veteran of stars and musicians concerts whose previous shows have featured Shah Rukh Khan, Asha Bhosle and Adnan Sami, and Himesh Reshammiya.
