The problem is reach of the song, that's what I want to highlight...Instead of keeping two versions of "kannathil muthamittal" song He could have picturised "vellai pookkal",

If I can read Mani Ratnam's mind, the idea of using the song at the begining of this movie probably was to show the "calm status of life" before the "cyclone of war".
