ஏ.ஆர்.ரஹ்மான் இனி வாத்தியார்! சர்வதேச ஆசிரியர்களை வைத்து இந்தியாவில், குறிப்பாக தமிழகத்தில் இசைக் கல்லூரி ஒன்று துவங்க வேண்டும் என்பது இசைப் புயலின் நீண்ட காலக் கனவு! இப்போது அந்தக் கனவை நனவாக்கி இருக்கிறார் ரஹ்மான். அவர் துவக்கும் இசைக் கல்லூரியின் பெயர் 'கே.எம். மியூஸிக் கன்சர்வேட்டரி'.
A.R. Rahman would be a teacher from now on. With the help of teachers, it has been the long cherished dream of Isaipuyal ( Music Storm ) to start a music college in Tamil NAdu. That dream has become a reality for Rahman. The name of the Music college is " K.M. Music Conservatory". இதற்காக லேடி ஆண்டாள் பள்ளியில் நடந்த அறிவிப்பு விழாவில் கறுப்பு கோட், சூட்டில் மலர்ச்சியாக வந்து அமர்ந்தார் ரஹ்மான். அவரின் ஹிந்துஸ்தானி இசைக் குருவான குலாம் முஸ்தபா சாகிப்தான் சீஃப் கெஸ்ட்! அமெரிக்கா, லண்டன் என பல நாடுகளைச் சேர்ந்த இசைப் பள்ளி ஆசிரியர்கள் வந்திருந்தார்கள். குரல், பியானோ, கம்போஸிங் என மியூஸிக்கின் எக்ஸ்பர்ட்களான இவர்கள்தான் இந்த கல்லூரியின் ஆசிரியர்கள். இவர்கள் தவிர குலாம் முஸ்தபா, எல்.சுப்பிரமணியம், ஸ்ரீனிவாஸ் கிருஷ்ணா என இந்திய இசைக் கலைஞர்களும் இந்தக் கல்லூரியின் ஸ்பெஷல் லெக்சரர்கள். For this sake, Rahman wore a black coat and suit and came with full smiles for a function at Lady Andal school. His Hindustani Guru Ghulam Mustapha Saheb was the Chief Guest. There were a lot of Music School teachers from US & UK. These scholars are experts in voice, Piano, composing, and they are going to be the lecturers in this college. Apart from them, Ghulam Mustapha, L. Subramaniam, srinivas krishna would be special lecturers in the college . இந்த இசைப் பள்ளியின் மேனேஜிங் டைரக்டரான செல்வகுமாரிடம் பேசினோம். ''ரஹ்மானுக்கு இசைக் கருவிகள் மேல் அலாதியான ஈடுபாடு உண்டு. அவை எல்லாவற்றையும் கற்று முடித்த பின்தான் கீபோர்டு கற்றுக்கொண்டார். இசைக் கருவிகள் பற்றிய அடிப் படை தெரிந்ததால், அவரால் சுலபமாக கீபோர்டிலேயே வெவ்வேறு இசையைக் கொண்டு வர முடிகிறது. ஆனால், இப்போது இசை படிக்கும் மாணவர்கள் கீபோர்டு மட்டும்தான் கற்றுக்கொள் கிறார்கள். அதில், எந்த அடிப் படை இசையும் தெரியாமல் பிற இசைக் கருவிகளின் இசையை உருவாக்குகிறார்கள். The Managing Director of this Music school is selvakumar. He said ," Rahman has lot of interest over musical instruments. After learning all music instruments, he learnt the keyboard. As he knows the basic of all instruments, he was able to easily get different tones in the keyboard. But nowadays, music students are learning only the keyboard. They do not know any basic forms of music, and are attempting to get some sounds in th keyboard. இந்தப் போக்கு கொஞ்சம் கொஞ்சமாக இசைக் கருவிகளையும், அதன் நுணுக்கமான இசையையும் காலி செய்வது மட்டுமின்றி, நமது பாரம்பரிய இசைக் கருவிகளைக்கூட அழித்து விடும் என்ற கவலை ரஹ்மானுக்கு உண்டு. வெளிநாடுகளில் இந்த மாதிரி பாரம்பரிய இசைக் கருவிகளைப் பாதுகாக்கவும், கற்றுக் கொடுக்கவும் இசைக் காப்பகங்கள் உண்டு. அப்படி ஒரு காப்பகம் ஆரம்பிக்க வேண்டும் என்று சொல்லிக் கொண்டே இருப்பார். அதே போல வெஸ்டர்ன் கிளாஸிக்கல் இசையை முழுமையாகக் கற்றுக் கொடுக்க ஆசிரியர்கள் இல்லை என்பதையும் சொல்லுவார். இந்த இரண்டையும் சேர்ந்து ஒரு பள்ளி ஆரம்பிக்க வேண்டும் என்பது ரஹ்மானின் பத்து வருடக் கனவு. நான் சவுண்ட் டிசைனிங் மற்றும் மியூஸிக் இன்ஸ்ட்ரூமென்ட் டெக்னாலஜி கற்றுக் கொடுக்கும் கம்பெனியை நடத்திக்கொண்டு இருக்கிறேன். எனக்கும் ரஹ்மானுக்கும் 20 வருட நட்பு உண்டு. ஆறு மாதத்துக்கு முன், 'நாம் இருவரும் இணைந்து இசைப் பள்ளி ஆரம்பிப்போமா?' என்று கேட்டார். அப்படி ஆரம் பித்ததுதான் இந்த கே.எம். இசைக் காப்பகம். This trend of knowing little about other musical instruments will spoil the miniscule aspects of real music, and this is the main worry of Rahman. In foreign countries, there are music schools, which safeguard the traditional music instruments, and teach the nuances of these instruments. He used to tell that such a school needs to be opened here in India. At the same time, he used to tell that there are not many teachers to teach Western Classical Music. It has been Rahman's dream to safeguard both of these interests for the past 10 years. I have been running a Sound designing cum Music Instrument Technology Company, and my friendship with Rahman has been for the past 20 years. Six months back, he asked me if we could start a music college together. In that way, started the K.M. Music Conservatory. வருகிற ஜூன் மாதம் துவங்கும் இந்தக் காப்பகத்தில் மொத்தம் 150 மாணவர்களைச் சேர்க்க இருக்கிறோம். இந்தக் கல்லூரியின் பிரின்ஸிபால் ரஹ்மான்தான். வசதிக் குறை வான, திறமையான 50 மாணவர்களுக்கு ரஹ்மான் தன் ஃபவுண்டேஷன் மூலம் கட்டணம் கட்ட முடிவு செய் திருக்கிறார். இதற்காக அவர் இந்த ஆண்டிலிருந்து வெளிநாடு களில் கூடுதல் இசை நிகழ்ச்சிகள் நடத்தத் திட்டமிட்டு இருக்கிறார்'' என்றார் செல்வகுமார். Coming June, we are planning to recruit 150 students. The Principal of the college is Rahman. Among the 150 students, 50 students who are very well talented, and who are not that well off will be provided with scholarships from Rahman Foundation, and this has been decided by Rahman . For this purpose, he has decided to do a lot of concerts outside India. கல்லூரியின் பெயரில் இருக்கும் கே.எம். என்கிற இரண்டு எழுத்துக்களும் யாரை அல்லது எதைக் குறிக்கின்றன என்பதுதான் விழாவில் பலரின் கேள்வியாக இருந்தது. ''கே.எம். என்பது எதைக் குறிக்கிறது?'' என்று ரஹ்மானையே கேட்டார் ஒரு நிருபர். ''அவை புனிதம் சார்ந்த எழுத்துக்கள்'' என்று மட்டும் ஒரு புன்னகையோடு சொல்லிவிட்டு, அடுத்த கேள்விக்குத் தாவிவிட்டார் ரஹ்மான். The doubt about what stood for K.M was lingering on the minds of the crowd who had come over there. One person asked Rahman as to what K.M stood for ?. Rahman smilingly replied that it was something sacred, and jumped to the next question. ரஹ்மான் என்றாலே ரகசியம்தான் போல!
