yeah... i saw the interview on 'DAWN NEWS' channel here in karachi...
Lataji looked very sad and discouraged about the present music scene in
india...she said that the present day composers are forgetting their roots...
at this moment, the host of the program asked her "what about Mr. A R Rahman??"
oh...i was just waiting for that moment...i knew that our boss's name was about
to come very soon..
IT DID!
Lataji replied,"jee haan...lekin Rahman sahab bohot kum films karte
hain...magar un ka kaam bohot acha hota hai.."
("yeah...but Rahman works in very few films...but whatever he does, is very
good")Lataji was talking in hindi throughout the interview...
the host of the show did a great job too...

Today there was an interview of LATA MANGESHKAR ( Which she gave to DON paper
of PAKISTHAN ) in EENADU telugu paper and she talked a lot about her
relationships with PAKISTHANI singers of those times and also today's INDIAN
MUSIC.She said " TOdays' BOLLYWOOD music is nothing before the music of those
days.It offers nothing ".Then she said " ONLY AR RAHMAN IS THE SAVIOUR OF
INDIAN MUSIC THESE DAYS. HE IS EXCEPTIONAL. HE IS DOING MANY NEW THINGS WHICH R
REALLY GOOD. BUT HE IS DOING VERY FEW ALBUMS'.This remark of hers is indeed a
big praise for our LEGEND A R RAHMAN, because a singer who has sung thousands
of songs from past 5 decades feels A R RAHMAN is the only true music director
of this country now.HATTS of to LATAJI to say the FACT openly and HATTS of to
our RAHMAN sir for keeping that WINDERFUL WORK.
