The 'youthful and halcyon charm of college life' in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane
Na<http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/jaane_tu_ya_jaane_na/>has
triumphed over the glitz and dazzle of 'a futuristic saga' in Love
Story 2050 <http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/love_story_2050/>and
the 'angelic tale' of Thoda
Pyaar Thoda
Magic<http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/thoda_pyaar_thoda_magic/>at
the overseas box-office.

Rising on the 'natural screen presence' of the youthful pair of debutant Imran
Khan <http://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/imran_khan/> and pretty Genelia
D'Souza <http://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/genelia_d_souza/> , Abbas
Tyrewala <http://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/abbas_tyrewala/> 's 'Jaane
Tu Ya Jaane Na' has opened to an overwhelming response in the overseas
markets, especially the US and the United Kingdom, pipping the much hyped
'Love Story 2050' and 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic', sources in UTV Motion
Pictures, the overseas distributors of the film, said.

Being produced by Aamir
Khan<http://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/aamir_khan/>productions,
'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', which marks the debut of Aamir's nephew
Imran, netted excellent returns in the US, UK, Australia and the Gulf, UTV
sources said.

In the North American market, 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na', which released
worldwide on July 4, grossed 2,00,000 US Dollars on 38 prints till Sunday
night, more than 'Love Story 2050' and 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda magic' which
opened with a higher number of prints.

In comparison to the gross earning of 200,000 US Dollars by 'Jaane Tu Ya
Jaane Na', the Priyanka
Chopra<http://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/priyanka_chopra/>and
Harman
Baweja <http://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/harman_baweja/> starrer
'Love Story 2050' earned 76000 US Dollars in its opening weekend from 66
prints, while 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic' earned 180,000 US dollars from 84
prints, UTV sources said.

The sources said the box office figures of 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' were
fabulous considering that last year's superhit Jab We
Met<http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/jab_we_met/>earned
3,00,000 US dollars during its entire run in the US.

In the United Kingdom, 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' earned 57120 US Dollars from
just 13 prints. In comparison, 'Love Story 2050' earned just a marginally
higher 60000 US Dollars from 36 prints.

In the Gulf markets, the Imran Khan-starrer earned 177,000 US dollars from
just 15 prints till Sunday night, higher than 167,000 US dollars grossed by
'Love Story 2050' which opened with 25 prints, ten more than 'Jaane Tu Ya
Jaane Na'.

The Yashraj Films
<http://www.apunkachoice.com/celebrities/yashraj_films/>production
'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic' earned 229,500 US Dollars in its
opening weekend in Gulf on a higher number of 32 prints.

Incidentally, Taare Zameen
Par<http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/taare_zameen_par/>,
another overseas release by UTV Motion Pictures, had last year grossed
258,000 US Dollars on 25 prints in the Gulf in its opening weekend.

In Australia too, 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' opened to an excellent response,
earning 30,427 US Dollars from 6 prints in the opening weekend, beating
'Love Story 2050' which grossed 21, 423 US dollars in its opening weekend
from 11 prints.

Though 'Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic' grossed a higher figure of 36000 US Dollars
in its opening weekend in Australia, it was from a higher number of ten
prints, which means 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' had a better per screen average.

The excellent box-office figures for 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' comes even as
the film, featuring Imran and Genelia in the lead and others like Manjari
Fadnis in key roles, has opened to a fabulous response all over India.

The overseas success of 'Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na' is another feather in the cap
for UTV Motion pictures, who have earlier successfully distributed films
like The Namesake<http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/english/the_namesake/>,
'Taare Zameen Par',
Race <http://www.apunkachoice.com/dyn/movies/hindi/race/> and 'The
Happening' in the overseas markets.
