Agree 100% with Chord. To add - The lyrics leave a lot to be desired.
Personally ...I feel in a sum total, a) the lyrics b) Alka Yagnik c) Too much use of keyboards and light rhythms have killed many of the songs. And Shanno-Shanno has to be one of the lows of ARR's repository. I miss the typical elaborate arrangements by ARR in this album. The music is too electronic and techno - I feel. Certainly on a first hearing - the album does sound rather weak. But defnitely ....will need to give it time. Lets see whether I will eat my words in a few days time (or by end of day today) -A On Wed, Oct 15, 2008 at 8:53 AM, Chord <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I realize it's early and that Rahman's music grows: > > Pluses: > - Great use of symphonic elements like choir, strings with elaborate > arrangements and sounds. > - Fresh sounding overall. > - A bold effort by Rahman > - Strong mukhada (asthai, chorus) melodies > - Good singing and expressions > - Good lyrics > - Out of the box creativity shows strongly > - Good range and variety > - Zindagi is just amazing > - Great experimentation with novel fusion (Western musical with Indian > classical) > - Effort by Rahman shows a lot of courage and hard work in most songs. > > Minuses: > - Some songs with very weak melodies and with overall weak melodies in > Antaras (hard to remember the tune of Dil Ka Rishta and Mastam, low > hummability) > - Shano Shano and its remix to me are a complete waste.
