Guys, I personnally think that dubbing is just a commercial strategy to make money. I'm sure rahman would prefer to do only one version as the lyrics have been phonetically blended to the music. His music is an expression of the lyrics and the pronunciation of every syllables goes hand in hand with the music. I have heard many of his songs in dubbed version and i can assure you that I've always preferred the original, even though I dont understand a bit of the lyrics, I can to hum them after 3-4 listenings. Thats the magic of rahman... his music is a vehicle of the lyrics and vice versa.
As an exemple, just say 'Karyine naa' without music is in itself a musical sound, but its power is diminished in the tamil version. Im not criticizing tamil language as Im myself Tamil. The same would be for 'Sowkyaama' from sangamam... Cant be dubbed, would loose its musicality...
