AGood response and I fully agree with your thinking there. :-)

a. No one can fit the role like Aamir

b. Both  ARR Sir and SDB Saab are legends in their own way. One should not even
try and compare.

And then, the cast is worst possible. Aamir is an alpha male type of

hero. he steals every frame in his film. Only in RDB did he contain

himself and allowed other actors to have space. He is not likely to live

up to Gurudutt's portrayal of silently sufferring guy. and Kat is a

great face and great body but does she know what acting is, let alone

knowing what Waheeda Rahman's level of acting is? her pronunciation in

NewYork was irritating.

Aamir Khan has been acknowledged as the least selfish of actors which is
highlighted by his roles in RDB & TZP. While you may not have a high opinion of
him, if the film has to be remade at all, I cannot think of any other actor in
that role.

As far as the music is concerned, only two songs survived from the

original. the sweet, touching immemorable Waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam

by Geeta Dutt, and rafi's bichhade sabhi bari bari which I personally

find too slow, boring, unimaginative.

So, ARR wouldn't really have any high challenge presented to him beating

SD Burman. :-) ARR's overall music would be hands down better than

SDB's. The only challenge is Waqt Ne Kiya song, and if ARR does come up

with a song better than that, that song is going to become lifelong most

fav of every ARR fan.

I wish they don't even try to compete with Waqt ne Kiya, and rather use

the original song as such in the remake also, without even remixing.

I think ARR is likely to be part of all Rakeysh films, but ARR will be

in a fix. If ARR refuses to do this film, people will say he backed out

fearing that he wouldn't be able to match SDB. :-) :-) :-)

I am not sure why do we need to see it as ARR beating SDB or vice versa. Both
are legends in their own right. Even with the Abhimaan remake, It would be
difficult to do anything if ARR keeps the original songs in mind and then does.
He has to and he will, given the TLOBS example, start afresh and give gems of
his own which needn't be compared agains the original.
