** Hi Matt,

I have only run multiple servers on Linux. Are there any special gotchas doing this on Windows? Do the instances stay pretty well isolated from each other? No dll or registry conflicts?

On Windows, you might end up w/ a structure that looks like this:

C:\Program Files\AR System\ARS6\arserver1
C:\Program Files\AR System\ARS6\arserver2
C:\Program Files\AR System\ARS6\arserver3
C:\Program Files\AR System\ARS7\arserver4
C:\Program Files\AR System\ARS7\arserver5
C:\Program Files\AR System\ARS7\arserver6

When you are going through the installation process, you may set up 1 server
instance to use PortMapper... all others must use a specific TCP port for
connections.  Also, the installation will ask you if you wish to install the
current instance as a 'shared' installation (where it shares a database with
another instance), or if it is a stand-alone.

It can get kind of... interesting... to manage.  :)  I've got one Windows
2003 server with 7 or 8 ARS installations.  Some are 6.3 and others 7.0.
Some are using a remote oracle 10g database and others are using remote sql
server 2000 and sql server 2005 databases.  Strangely enough, it's a very
stable server!  :-)

Good luck!

well

I'm a little confuse

"One physical server with multiple instances of Remedy running on it,
connecting to multiple databases. "

In this case you mean Remedy ARS install in c: and the other one in d:,
OK multiple databses you mean db2, SQL,

Sorry but like I said i'm confused

thanks
