You can also learn a whole lot by reverse engineering the
current system in place. You can learn the admin tool, learn the
applications with their workflow and learn standard naming conventions (assuming
there are some). If the previous developers took the time to document, you can
also learn the companies business practices or processes via the
workflow. just my 2 cents...

Unfortunately, it is not uncommon. The first thing
you should have done you already did - sign up here. The second thing you
should do is log into Remedy's support site (I assume your company has valid
support) and download any ARS documentation for the version you are running, and
then read it. The third thing you should do (good luck with this one) is
to get your boss to at least give you the first Admin training course.
After that, just open the admin tool and create a new form to get the feel for
the application - it's not that hard to use, and the only code syntax you need
in the workflow is SQL.
If you want some practice creating a form and some
workflow, I would start with a basic bug tracker. It's easy to build and
actually useful when you're done.

I am new ARS Administrator and the company I am working
for utilizes all customed applications. I am not given any
training on their system and it makes my work difficult. Is it normal for
companies to put new people to work with out giving any training on the
system? Please advise me on how should I handle this.
Thank you in advance.
