Curtis, Indeed, and the fact that you can update an entry using a join key demonstrates poor design/lack of thought. How hard is it to add two strings together, I ask!
If you've just started AR API work then the only advice I can offer is, don't trust anything! I particularly like the mechanism of storing enumerated strings: 4\0\This\1\Is\2\Really\3\Poor It's like some funny throw back to the '80s.
