The problem I encountered was directly related to the install restarting the
ARS Service which then attempts to restart the email service and the install
not seeing the service start. We have done a couple of other ITSM 7 installs
and by installing the email engine last the hang ups did not occur.

Subject: Conundrum - Installing ITSM 7 on 64-bit 2K3 server (AMD)

**
Hey listers!

So I have been struggling to install ITSM 7 on a Win 2k3 64-bit server. The AR
Server install went ok as did the email and approval engine components. When I
get to mid-tier the setup would hang at random intervals. It was still
consuming 15-18% CPU but was doing nothing. Once I left it for an hour and it
made no progress. I wound up loading Tomcat and deploying mid-tier via the WAR
file.
Next, I installed Atrium 2.01. The first time it hung when I clicked the final
“Next” before the installation typically begins. Again, it was consuming
15-18% CPU and doing nothing. I killed it and started again; this time it got
to “Restarting BMC Remedy Action Request System Server” before it hung. I
watched and there was no attempt made to stop and restart said service. I
again killed setup and started over. It just finished installing components
and its at the post-install service restart…has been for 5+ minutes now.

Has anyone run into this?

Windows 2003 Server 64-bit Standard
AR 7.01
SQL 2005 64-bit

Thanks for the feedback!
