Yup. I also found that sometimes I needed to restart the service (AR System Server) myself because the installer didn't "notice" that its restart had finished. Note that I left the installer running.
The logs in %TEMP% are actually helpful in ITSM7 installs as well. You can watch the installer waiting for the server to come back, etc. -- Tony Worthington [EMAIL PROTECTED] 262-703-5911 Roger Justice <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent by: "Action Request System discussion list(ARSList)" <arslist@ARSLIST.ORG> 02/27/2007 01:32 PM Please respond to arslist@ARSLIST.ORG To arslist@ARSLIST.ORG cc Subject Re: Conundrum - Installing ITSM 7 on 64-bit 2K3 server (AMD) ** The problem I encountered was directly related to the install restarting the ARS Service which then attempts to restart the email service and the install not seeing the service start. We have done a couple of other ITSM 7 installs and by installing the email engine last the hang ups did not occur. -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Sent: Tue, 27 Feb 2007 2:11 PM Subject: Conundrum - Installing ITSM 7 on 64-bit 2K3 server (AMD) ** Hey listers! So I have been struggling to install ITSM 7 on a Win 2k3 64-bit server. The AR Server install went ok as did the email and approval engine components. When I get to mid-tier the setup would hang at random intervals. It was still consuming 15-18% CPU but was doing nothing. Once I left it for an hour and it made no progress. I wound up loading Tomcat and deploying mid-tier via the WAR file. Next, I installed Atrium 2.01. The first time it hung when I clicked the final ?Next? before the installation typically begins. Again, it was consuming 15-18% CPU and doing nothing. I killed it and started again; this time it got to ?Restarting BMC Remedy Action Request System Server? before it hung. I watched and there was no attempt made to stop and restart said service. I again killed setup and started over. It just finished installing components and its at the post-install service restart?has been for 5+ minutes now. Has anyone run into this?
