If they don't have an account (record in the User form), they will be able to create a record. Note that you need to have the "Allow any user to submit" set on the fields as the others suggest. If they have an account they will consume a floating license but it's re-released as soon as the Log out. From the Midtier they must logout and not simply close the browser. If they just close the browser they will consume the license for the period of time defined by the Floating License Timeout which is set to 2 hours by default. Most folks change it to the minimum which is 1 hour. Dave

One thing we're looking to add is a time keeping piece, so people can log into the mid-tier and record time on a weekly basis. I was thinking that since they are just creating records, it could be done without using a license- is that not the case? These are mostly people who wouldn't normally have a need to open the client, but some are people who work tickets daily. Thanks for your insight- Chris ________________________________ From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Shellman, David Sent: Monday, August 27, 2007 2:11 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: Submitting a record with a read license Chris, Individuals with accounts to the system will always consume a license (fixed or floating) when creating records. It's only Guest users (those that don;t have accounts) that can create records with a read license under Submitter Mode locked scenarios. However, I have created a form and when people who only have a read license try and submit it, they get an error. Do they need to have a floating license that just doesn't get consumed? Submitter mode is set to Locked.
